Romans 12:2 | Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
I know that we have all been put in a position at least once, if not brace yourself, where your faith has a head on collision with the project and/or client that you are working on. It can be challenging, to say the least, when it comes to keeping our hearts set on Jesus in a setting where that just isn’t popular. The culture of creatives largely places emphasis on personal gain and self-magnification, which makes a Christian feel pinned against a wall some days. We are called to be set apart from the world around us and our work and our attitudes should reflect that even in an arena where it just isn’t that popular to do so.
Jesus is our greatest example of what to do when facing adversity. When he was beaten, mocked, and hung on a cross he could have been just as unruly as his peers, but He wasn’t. .He had the mindset of the Father. When we become HIS our minds become like His and, as cliche as it sounds, you may be the only Bible that people ever read so don’t give up hope. Your witness, your humility, your work ethic is worth the keeping. Is it going to be easy? No, but it will all be worth it in the end if we maintain a heart and mind like Christ.
Pray that in those opportunities to conform to the “standard”, God would give you the strength to stand firm in Him as a set apart creative.
