I always purpose in my heart to do whatever I do in complete honesty and integrity. So, I am just going to be open with you. Today I have writers block. I have sat in front of my computer off and on all day trying to write this blog post and I am hitting wall after wall after wall of nothing but mental roadblocks. Every topic I have started to expound upon just falls short of words to express what I need to say.
We all have those moments when we have to produce something and/or to further ourselves by showing growth or progress and we just can’t seem to do it. In those moments we find it hard to breathe, we can’t see a way to surface above all that surrounds us, we struggle to find our sanity…. and all we really need to do is pause for a moment and realize that God is still in control.
Most would shrug mental block off and chalk it up to them having “one of those days”, but I call it how I see it. Mental block is nothing more than an attack of the enemy. Satan wants to distract you from doing whatever it is God has purposed for you to do. He will try to throw all kinds of things in your path so you can no longer mentally focus on the task at hand. However, that isn’t what we are called to do. We are called to:
recognize the attack as an attack,
stand firmly against the enemy,
(and) give the battle to God.
In the midst of my mental block, I am still giving God the glory! Despite my not posting about “Create: Inspiration for Creatives” or “ME Graphic Designs on Church Media” I am still giving glory where glory is due and I am still pointing people to Jesus just like I originally intended. Why? Because I recognize that I am called to do more than I can ever do on my own and if I allow God to work through me in the midst of the heat of the battle…. all is already won and HE will do the work.
Next time you have mental block doesn’t just chalk it up as “one of those days”. Submit your mind to Christ and heavenly things. That is it! That is the only way “mental block” will submit. Call it what it is, an attack of your mind.
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
