God has changed my plans again, he is fabulous like that and finds great pleasure in throwing me for a loop, I think. It seems as though every time I plan in advance, God changes what I am to write on the fly.
This morning, as I was reading my Bible, God began to reveal himself to me. While reading where Moses is describing God’s character to the Israelites I found myself finding out who God was to me in deeper and more complex ways.
Want to find out who God is?
Get rooted in scripture. Study His word.
He’s your praise! He’s your God! He did all these tremendous, these staggering things that you saw with your own eyes.
Deuteronomy 10:21 (MSG)
….He is your praise.
Let that sink in.
…He is your praise.
God is the only one worthy of your praise. No person or object can even begin to possibly come close to attaining his greatness or his worthiness. It always has been and always will be the Father plus nothing else. He is the one deserving of your attention and your affection, your adoration and your devotion, your song, your exaltation and your big ovation.
Now, God began to reveal something else to me today as I was reading this and I am going to share with you a piece of that. Maybe this is just for me today, but I don’t think this is possible.
Get this, if you are living like God has called us to, he is your praise. He is what others see. He is your statement. He is constantly and consistently approving you before men. You see, he saves his affections for you above all of his creation and his attention is on you in all you do. He adores you and every chance he gets he gives you a big ovation for just being the beautiful mess he created you to be. “He is your praise” means he is your personal standard to carry and your explanation point. God the Father is your shining beacon to those around you if you are living in his light.
Usually, I would read “he’s your praise” and recall that God is worthy of my praise. I never realized this statement could mean something more and today God proved me wrong. He isn’t just using Moses to declare his worthiness to us, but he is revealing his worth through us as we choose to daily lift him as a standard and give praise to the one worthy. As we give him the praise he praises us (gives us favor and establishes our steps).
Today as you face the world remember to raise up God as your standard and let him reveal himself to those around you for who he truly is.
