“Honey, time marches on and eventually you realize it is marchin’ across your face”.
– Steel Magnolias
The other day, as I put my makeup on, I noticed something; I have wrinkles. The more I looked at them, the more I realized how thankful I am for them.
I am thankful for every wrinkle because they are proof of living. Wrinkles are proof of smiles, tears, stress, and joy. Each wrinkle has a story to tell, and those stories are a part of my story God is writing.
Maybe you have acne, braces, and glasses. Maybe you have deep set wrinkles, and you carefully remove your teeth at night. Maybe your hair is always tousled in a messy bun because the kids were up all night and you haven’t worn makeup in days because you just haven’t found the time or energy to get dolled up. Whatever the case may be and no matter how young or old you are, your face is beautiful just the way it is at this stage of your life.
I find myself constantly reminding myself that my worth is not in my appearance, but instead, my presence should radiate the worth I have within; the worth I have found living my life as a daughter of the King. Next time you notice a new wrinkle try to remember that wrinkles are beautiful and worth treasuring because you are worth treasuring. Your wrinkles are proof of God’s love for you and that he treasures you enough to write your story and to let you make mistakes along the way.
