Welcome to last week’s promised phantom blog post on community. I decided to go ahead and take time to devote to client work and relaxation as I had little to no connectivity to the internet last week.
Without further delay
In Jesus’ circle, there was a people group called the devout and they are those who followed Jesus wherever he went, no matter the distance, just to catch a glimpse of the Father’s extravagant love lavished on humanity through him. This group of people was never called by name, but all had their love for the Father increased, and their understanding of him challenged because of Jesus. We are to have the same sort of relationship with this circle in our own lives.
We need this group of people as much as we need the next few that we will be discussing. Why? Acquaintances are those in our community which we intentionally place within our lives with the purpose to show off the splendor of the Father. Sounds a little cocky, but if we don’t take every opportunity to glorify the name of the Father, there are plenty of rocks on this earth that are more than willing and ready.
I intend on proving this further not with some lengthy and elaborate explanation, but rather with a simple statement.
God designed the body of believers as a unit, a team. For the group to function properly we must indeed act as a unit; holding one another accountable and building one another up in the Lord. We must offer comfort and security to one another while also causing each other to be uncomfortable with “okay” to become the men/women he desires us to be.
