Isaiah 64:8 | Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
As a Christian, this is one of my favorite passages of scripture. Why? Because it beautifully describes how personal God is with his work – his work being us. My Father, in all of His grandeur and glory, takes ownership of me. He made me in his likeness….with his hands. My Father takes pride in me, delights in me, and rejoices with me. I am His handcrafted masterpiece.
As a creative this scripture challenges me to be like Christ. Why? If God takes pride in His work and I am made in His image, shouldn’t I take pride in my work? Yes, my work should be presented in such a way that people know without a single doubt that I am His and He is mine. Even in a cooperate setting, Meagan? Yes, even in a corporate setting my work should be presented in such a way that, in its excellence, Jesus be made known.
Fellow creatives, this should give us all an extra boost to try and produce works with the form of honor and excellence today. In all that you do make Jesus known. Show who your God is by operating in excellence and humility simultaneously.
Prayer focus: Pray that God would give you opportunities to produce work that lifts His name above your own. Also, pray that in your everyday being that God would be glorified in you.
