Some people may find this post to be offensive but, don’t hate me for an opposing viewpoint. I do not apologize for what I am about to say it has come with a thorough warning. This post is not to start an argument or cause vast destruction. I am not sending out some mad crazy signal to all the bandwagons out there to band together for a common idiotic cause they care or know nothing about.
There are three things I must present to you about opinions before I get to the meat of this post. One, everyone has an opinion. Two, any idea not like your own is automatically deemed stinky and unacceptable in your presence. Three, every person with said opinions in direct opposition to your own deserves severe torture.
This is not the case, but rather what mainstream media and most Pharisaical leaders would push on the impressionable and opinion poor or weak minded individuals. Opinions matter because the people who possess those opinions matter. Each stinky varying opinion matters.
This is my personal and honest stinky opinion in all of its glorious opposition. You won’t offend me if you disagree with me, in fact, I want you to form and hold tight to your own opinion. All I ask is that you not harp on me because my opinion differs from that which you have formed.
Just because some big business doesn’t have the same moral compass and spiritual convictions I possess, doesn’t mean I automatically warrant them to be worthy of a boycott, refusing their services and possibly inconveniencing myself in the process. I will not be boycotting Target, Disney, Apple, or Starbucks in the foreseeable future because of their well known public view of hot-button topics. Why? Some CEO's political viewpoints have zero effect on why I like the product or services I utilize.
Don’t get me wrong, I stand for what I believe in and have no qualms about telling someone that I am unashamedly a Christ follower, passionately in love with Jesus. However, I thoroughly enjoy shopping at Target, watching Star Wars and Marvel movies, designing on my Mac, talking to you on my iPhone when you call or text me, and I also really like drinking coffee at Starbucks.
I don’t go to Target to use the restroom, nor do I go to Starbucks to get married. I don’t go to Disney for relational advice, nor do I go to Apple for their opinion on narcotics and the likes. I go to these places and utilize their services because the product is worth it. Long story short, if I were to boycott every company that had an opposing view on something I possessed strong convictions on I would never leave my house. There are things Wal-Mart, Sonic, and the local gas station do which I do not necessarily agree with, but I give them my business because I deem their product as worthy.
I am well aware that this post isn’t the popular opinion, but I had to share my thoughts, or I was going to drive myself crazy.
I am signing off from this post I write from the comfort of my MacBook Pro while sitting in Starbucks and drinking my Iced Caramel Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso, listening to The Imperial March from Star Wars which has been playing in my head for the past few days.
